467 Recoveries, 192 Covid-19 Patients in ICU

Kenya has recorded 511 new Covid-19 cases, from a sample size of 4,020 tested in the last 24 hours with a positivity rate of 12.7 per cent. 

Of the cases, 477 are Kenyans while 34 are foreigners. 280 are males and 231 are females. The youngest is a five-day-old infant while the oldest is 95 years.

During a briefing on Tuesday 27th, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe stated that 467 patients had recovered from the disease, 385 from home-based care, and 82 from various health facilities.

Total recoveries now stand at 107,303 out of which 78,207 are from home-based care and isolation, while 29,096 are from various health facilities.

On a sad note, 22 deaths have been reported over the past twenty-four hours. 18 of them occurred over the past month while four were from an audit of late reports. The cumulative deaths so far are at 2,665.

A total of 1,365 patients are currently admitted to various health facilities countrywide, while 6,926 patients are on Home-based isolation and care.

192 patients are in the intensive care unit (ICU), 35 of whom are on ventilatory support and 127 on supplemental oxygen. 30 patients are on observation.

As of today, a total of 840,075 persons have been vaccinated against the Covid-19 disease countrywide. Of these 486,754 are aged 58 years and above, Health workers 154,031, teachers 129, 527 whole Security officers 70,467. 

As of April 25, 2021, a total of 1,080,000 doses had been distributed to the regional depots countrywide leaving a balance of 40,000 doses at the Kitengela Central Vaccines stores.

The Ministry of Health has continued to urge Kenyans to adhere to the new Covid-19 guidelines instituted by the government in order to curb the third wave of the virus. 

He noted that the government would not ease the containment measures despite the decline of the Covid-19 positivity rate.
