Magoha Reveals Surprising Schools Most Preferred by KCPE Candidates

Education CS George Magoha on Tuesday, June 15, disclosed some schools unexpectedly got thousands of applicants from KCPE 2020 candidates.

Speaking during the launch of the form one selection results in Nairobi, Magoha revealed Nanyuki Boys High School as the most selected school by the candidates and went ahead to name the other schools including;

1.) Nanyuki Boys High School  154,524

2.) Kabianga High School  142,000

3.) Nyandarua High School 123,000

4.) Nakuru High Schools 100,000

5.) Butere High School 94,000

6.) Mbooni Girls 93,000

Some of the popular schools that got thousands of applicants include; Alliance Girls 105,000, Pangani 124,000, Maseno 104,000 and Kapsaret Boys 95,000.

"It is important to educate our teachers that the best schools are not the ones that we are applying to, otherwise, selection becomes difficult," the CS stated.

The CS also announced that form one students would report to school on August 2, 2021, adding that all candidates had been placed in government learning facilities. 

"Due to the Covid situation, parents are asked to visit their respective County directors for any assistance," Magoha stated.

Faith Mumo, the girl who emerged top in KCPE with 433 marks will join Kenya High while Wanyonyi Samuel, the top boy who scored 430 will join Mang'u High school.

The CS stated that students who scored 400 and above were placed in the national schools and extra county schools of their choice. 

Special needs candidates were also placed in regular schools of their preference. 

National schools have admitted 17,406 girls and 18, 848 boys summing up to 36,254 while the extra county schools have admitted girls 95,646 and 105,431 boys, the total is 201,077. 

On the other hand, County schools have taken 115,325 girls and 98,266 boys. The total is 213,591.
