Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) on Monday, June 21, launched a self-service portal for customers to effectively access services online.
Through the new portal, users can calculate their monthly bills and access information regarding their charges.
While launching the portal, KPLC Managing Director Bernard Ngugi added that the new service is a digital transformation process for the company in its bid to make services easily accessible to customers.A screenshot of Kenya Power's self-sevice portalFile
"The portal is in line with one of the Company's core strategic pillars of enhancing customer experience aimed at making services more accessible to customers.
"The convenient application process will also help drive sales, which is among the key pillars of our turnaround strategy," Ngugi stated.
How to Calculate Monthly Bill
i) Access the KPLC self-service portal via:
ii) For new users on the portal click the register tab: there are two fields; register either as a landlord or as a tenant.
iii) In the case of a tenant, fill in the required information such as your full names, contact, and phone number.
-Select either to use your contact or email for login
iv) Read and tick on the terms and conditions box and enter the verification code sent to your phone.
v) Once registered, head over to the bill calculator tab at the left-hand section of the portal.
vi) Fill in the month and year and the electricity tariff (a drop-down box will appear whereby the user chooses the type of tariff either Domestic Consumers or Small Commercial).
vii) Then click calculate, a statement should be brought revealing the amount for the month stipulated.
(KPLC issues a disclaimer that charges may vary).
Among other services that a user can access using the portal includes filing applications for electricity connections, reporting power outages, bill queries, carrying out prepaid token queries, filing requests for changing account holders.
In order to access services such as applying for electricity connections, the KPLC boss affirmed that a user is required to submit documents such as ID cards, PIN certificates through the portal.
