Political analyst Herman Manyora has stated that Deputy President William Ruto's plan to pick a running mate from the Mt Kenya region could spell doom for his Presidential aspirations in the 2022 General elections.
Speaking on his Youtube Channel, the pundit argued that the DP's decision could ultimately split the votes from the region.
He added that whoever the DP would pick, the outcome would cause trouble within the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) camp.
"Ruto right now has no choice but to get a running mate from the Mt Kenya region. However, It will also breed his own problem within the UDA camp because if you take former Agriculture CS Mwangi Kiunjuri, then what about the likes of Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua, Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria, and the rest?
"What about his allies from the Mt Kenya East region in Embu, Meru, or Tharaka Nithi?" Manyora posed.
The analyst went on further and affirmed that Ruto is caught in a precarious position in his last gasp effort to save his Presidential bid.
"In political warfare, it's not good to be read like a book. So the DP exposed himself too early," he stated.
Manyora pointed out that National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi would be a strong contender if he chose to vie for the top seat as he would be backed by the entire Mt Kenya East region.
Based on this, the analyst intimated that Ruto should seek to rope the Speaker into his camp in order to boost his odds.
Further, in order to save the country from plunging into an adverse economic crisis, Manyora pointed out that Ruto would have to drop the bottom-up economic model and instead adopt key strategies such as the provision of free quality healthcare and education, implementing various policies in order to deal with land ownership issues, engaging in capitalism to ascertain increase in production within the country.
Other solutions he proposed include eradicating slums within Nairobi and its metropolis as well as establishing houses for the common Mwananchi.
