Deputy Inspector General (IG) Police Edward Mbugua, on Friday, July 9, presided over the commissioning of the new refurbished Nairobi Central Police Station.
The station's refurbishment cost Ksh3 million and aspired to give it the much-needed changes to enhance service delivery to members of the public.
This was the first major facelift for the station in 60 years since being first commissioned in 1961.
During the event, Mbugua commended well-wishers and corporates urging them to continue supporting the police force as a way of motivating them in their line of work.
"I would like to urge all other corporates who are able to do the same, to come and assist the police officers especially in the refurbishment of the buildings," commented Mbugua.
Here are the improvements done at the station:
Aesthetic Modification.
The station's outward appearance has been changed from a white colour to a light shade of yellow. The walls were also patched up from their previous state with cracked and punctured sections.
Construction of a Cabro Road.
The station's parking space was re-adjusted from its previous state of a murram road. The refurbishment installed a cabro road marked with yellow line boundaries.
Another section of the parking was covered with ballast complimenting the new changes.
With the modification of the parking space, they also marked parking slots. A section consists of a roof allocating slots to some departmental positions such as Officer Commanding Police Station (OCS) and Deputy Officer Commanding Police Station (D/OCS).
Garden and Donated Benches
Also spotted in the changes sees is a garden fixed with outdoor benches donated to the station.
