Newly-elected KNUT secretary general Collins Oyuu on Friday, July 9, asked his predecessor to shy away from discussing matters regarding the union.

Oyuu was responding to Sossion's remarks during the burial of Nion Owilla, a KNUT branch treasurer in Migori.

He termed Sossion's utterances as a gross interference in KNUT's operations.

"I have witnessed him being interviewed on the media which I am not against but I want to caution him against delving into the union's matters.

"He should address any other issue as a parliamentarian but not KNUT. If we want him, we shall talk to him but he should not be a busy body," the KNUT Secretary-General stated.

Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Sossion warned that KNUT may be getting into a trap in their talks with  the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).

Oyuu stated that Sossion's interference had allegedly raised concern among a section teachers.

“Teachers and other stakeholders all over the republic, especially in the region he represented, have raised concern over his continued interference. We will not allow him to continue meddling with the union affairs," he vowed.

Oyuu added that the former KNUT boss would not have resigned if he wanted to continue working in the union. He argued that Sossion was free to contest if he wanted to be in the union's leadership.

"Since he chose to resign, his continued involvement in the union’s affairs without our knowledge and consent, amounts to gross interference, so he should keep off," Oyuu concluded.

Sossion resigned on Saturday, June 26, bowing to pressure and demands from teachers.

"I bow out of KNUT as the Secretary-General. I shall remain loyal to KNUT and will always be available to advise and support the leadership of the union."
