The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) has on July 13, 2021 urged motorists who use Likoni Road, Nairobi, to exercise caution when using the road due to ongoing roadworks.

Alternatively, motorists have been advised to use the diversion routes as provided by the traffic marshals stationed on the road.

Likoni Road connects Mombasa Road at Airtel and Jogoo road at Kenol junction. It is a road that has grown increasingly popular as drivers try to avoid Mombasa road, which has been a nightmare since construction of the expressway began.

KURA will be redoing the stretch of the road by adding a new carpet to it. The road works will also include digging of drainages.

The road works will most likely cause traffic along the route as some sections of the road will be closed to pave way for the construction process.

Motorists should also be aware of loose chips and rocks when using some sections of the road as they could damage their vehicles.

Motorists, especially matatu drivers and touts, have also been warned against trying to unblock the road as it will interfere with the construction process.

The authority is mandated to manage, develop, rehabilitate and maintain national urban trunk roads.

Motorists on Mombasa Road who want to access Jogoo Road can connect to Jogoo Road Enterprise Road junction at General Motors.

They can also use Lusaka Road from Nyayo Stadium and connect to Jogoo Road and Landhies Road roundabout.

The road works are in line with Nairobi Metropolitan Services to have all roads leading to city estates recarpeted.
