A police report indicated that Quiver Lounge shooter, Dickson Mararo was triggered by laughter from the police officers he shot on Friday, July 2, 2021.
Mararo confronted the officers who were meeting at Quiver Lounge and demanded to know why they were laughing at him.
But the cops brushed off his claims and told him that they were laughing because of the conversation they were having.
His lawyer Cliff Ombeta had claimed that the police had provoked Mararo.
According to a report by K24, the officers stated that the 28-year-old also accused them of looking at him in a demeaning manner while he was in the company of a woman identified as his girlfriend.
“At around 9:30 pm, though I can’t remember the exact time, there was a guy unknown to us who approached and asked, ‘why are you laughing at me?’ We told him we were discussing our issues and not laughing at him” the cops explained in their statement.
Ombeta had accompanied his client to the DCI on July 5, where he alleged that the two officers were hitting on Mararo's girlfriend, on numerous occasions during a party hosted by Kasarani police station OCS.
"He had been provoked quite a number of times by the officers who kept on hitting on his girlfriend and trying to talk to her even at the times he went to the washrooms, they would make passes and follow her everywhere she went.
"It reached a breaking point whereby he had to involve the bouncer, and as you could see in the CCTV footage, the officers also tried to confront the bouncer while trying to attack my client," Ombeta stated.
CCTV footage of the incident showed Mararo in an altercation with the two officers before ultimately opening fire wounding the two officers and a waiter at Quiver Lounge.
The footage then showed Mararo escape through the back door of the entertainment lounge where he drove off in a vehicle that had been parked at a carwash next to the club.
