Caroline Kangogo's two children aged 8 and 11 have been offered help after their mother passed away on Friday, July 16

Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko urged the corporal's family to let him be the children's guardian. The two children currently live with their father, an officer in the Maritime Police Unit in Mombasa.

The family's lawyer had earlier on stated that two minors had been in Kangogo’s custody until Monday, July 12, when they were handed over to their father.

"My special request to her innocent family in Elgeyo Marakwet - Kindly allow me to take in the kids if you will find it difficult to raise them or provide their basic needs and education.

"I will stay and take care of them, ensure that they are educated as they are a blessing from God," Sonko urged.

The former Jubilee politician also asked the DCI to investigate the case and release a conclusive report to the public.

"If the public caught her, they would have lynched her without getting her side of the story as her case had been investigated and prosecuted through the court of public opinion. Whether she committed suicide or was murdered, depression is real and the same predicament can befall anyone," Sonko added.

In her alleged suicide note, the police officer noted that she wanted to assassinate the husband who reportedly mistreated her and left her for another woman. Kangogo narrated that she travelled to Mombasa and tracked the father of her children, but sympathised for her own kids.

She asked her brother and her husband’s lover to take care of the two children. An excerpt of the alleged note reads;

Hi bro, please take good care of my kids. Their father is allegedly too much into women because every visit to Mombasa they could vow we go together because daddy's friends reportedly harass them by calling them names i.e his lovers.

From Tuesday, I was in Mombasa and always saw you - husband - being picked and dropped. I wanted to kill you but I sympathised with my kids. I forgave you. I hope you do the same.

May our kids live in peace, love, forgiveness, success and being God-fearing. Since everything happened please take good care of our kids and don’t neglect them - as your first wife. Please don’t take advantage of love...current divorce

Kangogo’s family stated that they were clueless about the daughter’s death and were waiting for the autopsy and DCI reports to unravel the mysteries surrounding her demise. They raised questions on the woman’s death and those of the two men she was accused of killing.

The family spokesperson wondered how they did not hear their daughter arriving at home, nor the gunshot when she reportedly took her own life in the bathroom.
