Dennis Cheruiyot ,a Form Three student at RCA Kiplombe Secondary School in Turbo, Uasin Gishu County saw his dreams come true after a foreign coach took him under his wing.

The student was captured running to school alongside marathoners in a video that was shared widely on Thursday, July 15.

Neto Goncalves, a Brazilian coach training athletes in Kenya, was first to spot the boy's talent as he recorded him en route to school in the video that went viral.

The Portuguese speaking trainer announced that he would guide and nurture Dennis, train him over the weekends and see him realise his dreams.

"My name is Dennis and I am training with this Brazilian coach. I have the passion of running and I thank God for it," Cheruiyot stated in another video shared by Goncalves on Tuesday, July 20.

The two met for the first time at a training ground in Uasin Gishu. The coach disclosed that the aspiring athlete admitted that he was running on an athletics track for the first time in his life.

"Dennis told me that he loves the sport, especially athletics and dreams of being a champion. He added that he will dedicate himself to achieving his dreams.

"I knew I would have many great experiences and would learn in Kenya. With this boy, I learned a lot more about determination, dreams and the will to win. Dennis, may your life be very successful. Thank you for the example to all of us," Goncalves added.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, his teacher Henry Cheruiyot was proud of his student, who is also the school's games captain.

The teacher, however, stated that the school had not been notified whether the agreement between Dennis and the coach was formal or temporary.

"The student called me yesterday, July 20, and informed me of the development. He will be transitioning to Form 4 next week and we shall discuss how he will balance curricular and co-curricular. We are, however, proud of it," Cheruiyot lauded the boy.
