The family of Corporal Caroline Kangogo, on Thursday, July 29, fulfilled the wish of burying her in a wedding gown as alleged in the suicide note found at the scene of the crime where she allegedly took her own life.

Sources at Kangogo's burial at her parent's home in Anin, Elgeyo Marakwet pointed out that she did not get full police honours as accorded to deceased officers.

The source confirmed that ten of Kangogo's colleagues attended the burial but were only acknowledged by being told to wave to those in attendance. They did not get a chance to issue any remarks.

The family also maintained their stance in choosing not to honour her cremation wishes as indicated in the suicide note.

According to the insider, the burial was attended by her two children aged 8 and 11, family, and close friends.

Further, the source affirmed that the family disputed media reports that portrayed Kangogo as a rogue and indisciplined police cop who loved partying.

The family debunked the reports entailing that she was a warm person who got along with everyone and was depended upon by the family

"She was loved by everyone. During family visits, she was always jovial, would bring shopping and gifts," the insider stated.

According to the source, the family did not have any disputes with Kangogo's husband, a senior police officer attached to the Maritime Police Unit in Mombasa, despite wrangles between him and Kangogo circulated online.

Reports indicated that Kangogo had threatened to murder her husband had he been in Nairobi at the time she was on the run.

The suicide note was part of the evidence uncovered after police combed her parent's homestead where Kangogo's body was found. The corporal had been accused of murdering her colleague John Ogweno and businessman Peter Ndwiga.

The message was saved as a draft in a phone she used. Among the wishes she listed included, been buried in a wedding dress, interment at her parent's home rather than her husband's home in Kericho, and for her body to be cremated.

Further, the recent autopsy conducted by government pathologist Johansen Odour confirmed that she died of a gunshot wound that entered through her right chin and exited through the left side of her head.

He, however, pointed out that more investigations needed to be conducted in order to uncover if it was a suicide case or a murder probe.
