The Alliance High School Old Boys Club (OBC) launched a special tie for its members on Thursday, August 12.
Dubbed the AHS OBC Executive Tie, the merchandise will be made available to old boys of the national school at Ksh1,500.
Images seen by Kenyans.co.ke revealed details of the highly valued tie. The tie appears to be of high quality material and bears the school logo at the tip.
OLD boys who buy the tie will have an option to choose between an AHS-branded pen, wristband or keyring which will be available for free.
All proceeds from sales of the merchandise will go to supporting who are in needy students at the national school.
In addition, the money will also be used to improve infrastructure within the school. The proceeds will also support activities of the OBC.
The club banks on the school's strong tie tradition to boost the sales of the merchandise. A Kenyans.co.ke journalist disclosed that the AHS tie was more than an accessory to the alumni of the school.
"The tie was the most important part of our uniform, we had to take a tie-test to earn a tie." he begun. " The worst punishment was to have your tie confiscated by a prefect. You could not wear a trouser or even leave the school without it."
The club of the alumni paid fees for Paul Mwanzia, a Form One student who had been unable to report to school for admission due to lack of funds.
On Friday, August 6, the Old Boys classes of 1981 and 2001 contributed Ksh142,154 and Ksh250,000 to the school towards supporting students in need.
Other merchandise sold by the club include a black sleeveless sweater, golf bags, duffel bags, sweaters with personalised admission numbers, mugs, hoodies and a lapel pin.
The tie will be exclusively sold on the OBC website.
