ODM Leader Raila Odinga on Saturday, August, stated that he had adopted a new campaign strategy that he hoped would help him secure votes in the vote-rich Mount Kenya Region.

Raila spoke during the burial of David Ajwang Nyakwamba, who is the father of Homa Bay Senator Moses Kajwang, where he also appealed to residents in Nyanza region to register as voters.

Although he has not officially declared that he would be running for the presidency in the year 2022, the former Prime Minister hinted that he was strongly in the race and hoped to win the Presidency with the help of the Mt Kenya region where he has historically received very little support.

He did not give details of his new strategy although his allies indicated that President Uhuru Kenyatta's support would go a long way in raising his chances.

The ODM Leader was accompanied by Uhuru allies including Laikipia Governor Ndiritu Muriithi and Ndaragwa MP Jeremiah Kioni.

Also present was Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina, Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya, among others. They all promised to support the ODM party in 2022.

Muriithi said that the leaders of central Kenya had a debt to pay, and they would do so by supporting Raila in 2022.

Senator Ole Kina promised to unite the Maasai Community behind the ODM Party.

“We will follow Raila Odinga and the president because they have shown us the direction to follow," Ole Kina stated.

Earlier in Kisii, during the burial of Engineer Peter Kimori, Oparanya had mentioned that he was of a sober mind and knows clearly why he chose to stick with Raila for all this time.

He added that it was time to choose a leader who had the ability to unite the whole country. He promised to campaign for ODM in Western Kenya.

Meanwhile, on Sunday, August 15, Raila shared a statement titled Unity, Stability or Nothing. He said that political unity and stability had never been given the attention it deserved since it had missed in the country’s discussions.

“We have tended to act as if we can stumble into economic growth and prosperity however disjointed and unstable the country is and regardless of how we govern,” his statement read in part.

He added that the 2007-2008 post-election violence was a lesson to prove to us that unity and stability are the most important ingredients in ensuring we achieve economic stability and have a prosperous nation.

Raila urged Kenyans to emulate the grand coalition which he said succeeded because it largely invested instability, and we as a country can only achieve that based on how we play politics.
