The quartet was mistaken for livestock thieves before being lynched to death on August 8.

The four, two brothers Fred Mureithi, 30 and  Victor Mwangi, 25, and their friends Mike George, 29, and Nicholas Musa, 28, had converged to celebrate Mwangi's birthday when the tragic incident occurred.

Muriethi and Mwangi lived in Mlolongo,Syokimau in a palatial home put up with the support of their mother, Lucy Wanjiru.

Mwangi, the younger son, was a sound engineer and owned public address systems he hired out in the country and traded in music equipment he imported from China.

On the fateful day, they rode on three motorbikes before they were accused of intentions to steal sheep and goats in one of the homesteads in Enkamuriaki village, Kajiado County.

At around 6:00 pm they stopped briefly near a riverbank at Enkamulyat area, in the outskirts of Kitengela town.

Residents who saw motorbikes parked by the riverbank assummed that the four were going steal their cattle. They then raised alarm and lynched them.

However, a new witness narrated that contrary to the explanation of mistaken identity going round, that they were in fact brutally murdered by acquaintances.

The witness also pointed out efforts by neighbours to rescue the quartet.

Consequently, one civilian shot in the air in a bid to disperse the irate gathering of villagers. However, he was unsuccessful in stopping the brutal killings.
