Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malalah has threatened to arrest politicians from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).

Speaking in Malava Constituency on Saturday, August 28, Malalah stated that he would arrest any politician who tried to sell ODM in Western Kenya.

He likened selling ODM in the region to selling the illegal drug, Marijuana, claiming it would be enough reason to arrest the politician.

"If you come here to sell bhang, you know ODM is like bhang, we will arrest you," Malala declared.

The Senator stated that the only legitimate party in the region was the Amani National Congress (ANC) and that all other parties were not allowed in the region.

In a public post shared on his page, Malalah affirmed that selling ODM in Musalia Mudavadi's strongholds was like selling pork in Saudi Arabia and that it should be added to the list of "1000 ways to die."

Malala was responding to comments made by Shinyalu Member of Parliament Justus Kizito, who tried campaigning for the Raila Odinga-led political outfit.

Kizito suggested that every party should be allowed to market itself in the region and that the residents should be allowed to choose what idea they would like to buy.

"I have my party, and you have your party. Let me sell my mandazi as you sell your samosa," Kizito stated.

Malala also invited Kakamega Deputy Governor Philip Kutima to ditch ODM, stating that he was only being used by the latter to secure the vote of the Kabras community who form the majority of voters in Kakamega County.

He also accused Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya of throwing him under the bus after working together with him to deliver to the people of Kakamega.

In August 2021, Kutima was ousted as ODMs Chair of the county coordinating committee and replaced by Kizito, a move that caused party national officials to clash.
