Media personality George Ndirangu announced his exit from the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) on his birthday.
In a post shared across his social media handles on Monday, August 30, the multimedia journalist stated that he was leaving BBC after a three-year stint.
Ndirangu said he was leaving the international media house to take up a new challenge, but did not reveal specifics.
"One of the most fun things I ever did in life was making and breaking news at the BBC. Time for a new journey," the post read in part.
He expressed gratitude to the BBC and members of staff who worked with him both on and off-air.
Ndirangu joined BBC Africa in 2018 when Larry Madowo worked as a Business Editor at the media house.
Until July 2018, Ndirangu worked as a presenter and a producer at CNBC Africa before joining BBC. Before CNBC, he worked with Rwanda's Tele 10 as a news anchor.
When out of the newsroom, Ndirangu wore the master of ceremony hat, hosting various events including high-profile dinners and social events.
Ndirangu has conducted interviews and hosted panels globally.
His most recent interview was his panel with the heads of state at the Transform Africa Summit. He also facilitated COMESA's handbook launch with a four-president panel.
The holder of a Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial Science scooped Rwanda's Media Personality Award in 2017.
Ndirangu is among Kenyan journalists who have worked with the BBC. Others include Larry Madowo, Makena Njeri and Solomon Mugera.
Mugera, who served as the Regional Editor for BBC Africa, left the famed British media house on August 27 after 23 years.
On Sunday, August 29, Citizen TV news anchor Victoria Rubadiri announced that she would be taking a three-month break from the station.
Rubadiri will attend a three-month training in London, UK, courtesy of the BBC World News Komla Dumor Award she won in 2020.
