Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria on Tuesday, August 31, disclosed that he would not vie for any seat in the 2022 General Election.
Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Kuria affirmed that he would solely focus on building his Chama Cha Kazi party in the Mt Kenya region.
He noted that the region ought to be taken seriously as it had the most number of voters.
The lawmaker, who is a close ally of Deputy President William Ruto, opined that most presidential aspirants had isolated the region while pushing for unity bids through their various political outfits.
"Presidential candidates should treat Mt Kenya with the seriousness it deserves because it will not be business as usual going forward," Kuria stated.
Through Chama Cha Kazi party, Kuria insisted that he would push for the dignity of work, sanctity of enterprises and unity in diversity.
Speaking during a previous press briefing, Kuria noted that some parties had ignored the mountain yet wanted votes from the region.
He gave an example of the Okoa Kenya Alliance (OKA) which comprises ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetangula and Kanu leader Gideon Moi, saying that the outfit was not represented by any Mt Kenya leader.
Kuria also condemned some of Ruto's allies who he claimed had blasted him for refusing to dissolve his party to support UDA.
"I don't know when I became an outcast for Gachagua to go all over to blasting me for having a party. When I sat down with the Deputy President I agreed to support them," said Kuria.
During an interview on a local station on Tuesday morning, Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua, also a close ally of the DP, disclosed that Kuria and former Agriculture CS Mwangi Kiunjuri would form the government with the DP while retaining their parties.
"It is only that we are having some difference in opinion in terms of strategy. How do we win this presidential vote for William Ruto? Do we go the UDA way all of us, or do we get small parties and get into a coalition?" Rigathi posed.
