Kenya Railways Corporation (KRC) has unveiled a new time schedule for Madaraka Express for commuters plying the Rongai and Ngong route, running from Monday to Friday effective Monday, September 20.

In a notice issued by the corporation on Saturday, September 18, the morning commuter train is scheduled to leave Nairobi terminus at 5:10 am then reach the Rongai station at 5:34 am before departing at 5:37 am for Ngong station to arrive at 5:52 am.

The Madaraka Express has been slotted to depart Nairobi Terminus at 6:40 pm before arriving at Rongai station at 7:04 pm. The train will then leave the station at 7:07 pm and reach Ngong station at 7:22 pm.

From the Ngong station, the train will depart at 6:20 am in the morning then reach Rongai at 6:35 am for a short stop-over to pick other commuters. It will then depart at 6:38 to reach the Nairobi terminus at 7:04 am.

For the evening one, it will leave the Ngong station at 7:47 pm to arrive at Rongai at 8:02 pm for a short stop-over before continuing with the journey from 8:05 and reach Nairobi terminus at 20:28 am.

According to the corporation, the new time schedule will favour commuters travelling to Mombasa both in the morning and evening.

For those using the Suswa Safari train, the corporation has announced new time schedules running from Friday to Sunday.

The inter-county train from Nairobi to Suswa will depart from Nairobi terminus at 8:50 am then arrive at the Rongai at 9:14 am for a stop-over before leaving the same station at 7:24.

The train will then depart to Ngong and arrive at 9:39 am for a 10 minutes stopover. The safari train will then embark on another journey to Nachu station where it will reach at 10:10 am.

The train will then leave the Nachu station to arrive at Maai Mahiu at 10:34 am. The train will then leave the station at 10:44 heading to Naivasha ICD station. The train has been scheduled to arrive at the station at 10:51 am then leave for Suswa and arrive at 11:10 am.

From Suswa to Nairobi terminus, the Suswa Safari train will leave the Suswa station at 3:50 pm then arrive at Naivasha ICD at 4:08 pm.

After a short stopover, it will continue with the journey to Maai Mahiu where it will reach at 4:15 pm and take a 10 minutes break. From Maai Mahiu the train will leave for Nachu station where it will arrive at 4:50 pm. From there it will pass by Ngong, arriving at 17:11 pm then departing at 17:21 pm.

From Ngong, it will head to Rongai where it will arrive at 17:37 pm before leaving for Nairobi where it will arrive at 6:10 pm.

The new schedules are meant to help commuters, especially those travelling to Mombasa catch the trains on time.
