Garissa Township Member of Parliament, Aden Duale, has narrated how President Uhuru Kenyatta made him cross paths with many people and leaders during his tenure as the National Assembly Majority Leader.

In a video seen by Kenyans.co.ke, a seemingly frustrated, angry and dull Duale, revealed that the President made him create very many unnecessary political enemies while defending the Jubilee administration from public attacks.

Duale, who served as the Majority Leader for the ruling party between April 2013 and June 22, 2019 when he was unceremoniously removed over his association with Deputy President William Ruto, accuses the Head of State of setting him up for failure.

Duale intimates that he was critical in the formation of the Jubilee government in both 2013 and 2017 elections. In 2013, Uhuru's The National Alliance (TNA) entered into a coalition with Ruto's United Republican Party (URP) and went on to capture the presidency in the much contested polls.

At the time, the Duale notes that he led Uhuru's campaigns in upper Eastern and the larger Northern Frontier District (NFD) in the two elections, a move he says led to the President's win.

Duale, who describes himself as a once loyalist and President Uhuru's confidant, now says the Head of State has abandoned and betrayed the same people who made him who he is today.

When he was first elected the Majority Leader in the National Assembly, Duale says that he served in the position diligently, going to the extent of defending Uhuru and his government even in cases that did not warrant any defence, or that were in utter defiance of the country's interest.

Duale goes on to narrate that after the Supreme Court under Chief Justice (Rtd) David Maraga nullified Uhuru's August 8, 2017 presidential win, the President grew a cold heart and displayed withdrawal attitude from his loyal lieutenants.

He goes ahead to point out that the Head of State became even more unwelcoming and created a buffer between him and his loyalists after the March 9, 2018 handshake with the opposition leader, Raila Odinga of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM)

"The mission, the vision and the spirit that led to the formation of the Jubilee Party was now in jeopardy. He has betrayed William Ruto, he has betrayed myself," narrates Duale.

"I have been the most loyal and served him diligently as the leader of the majority. You can ask him, there's nothing that the President asked me to do within the confines of the legislature and outside that I did not do, and I campaigned for him and delivered a region Uhuru votes in the Eastern region," a seemingly distraught Duale narrates.

In a gloves-off approach, the MP detailed how his loyalty to the President ultimately led him to cross paths with other political bigwigs - a war that he did not intend to pursue but engaged in as a show of allegiance.

"I was defending the undefendable, he made me pick wars with people who I should not have fought with. At the hour (of need), when we needed his support, the President threw many of us under the bus."

Duale intimated that the betrayal by Uhuru became a common denominator within the Jubilee regime - pointing out how the Head of State, during the 2013 campaigns, was on record affirming how he would rule for ten years and his deputy to succeed him for another decade.

He questioned Uhuru for changing tune on his promise to the people and has seemingly fallen out with his Deputy.

The MP stated that the cracks and deception ultimately forced him to seek a new outfit - Ruto's United Democratic Alliance (UDA) outfit that he officially seeks to join in February next year.
