The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has taken action against a Member of Parliament accused of sending death threats.

DCI launched investigations on Gem Member of Parliament, Elisha Odhiambo, after allegations of death threats and intimidation were leveled against him by a Siaya Member of County Assembly.

The nominated MCA, Linda Juma, accused the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) affiliated MP of threatening her and went ahead to record a statement with the police in Yala.

She narrated that her troubles with the MP began after she shifted her allegiance to support a different aspiring parliamentarian, Jalango Midiwo.

Juma said the MP insulted and threatened her over her new political stand.

“It’s true that Odhiambo had fronted my name to ODM for consideration of nomination after the last polls. That does not, however, infringe my right to support other candidates politically," stated the MCA.

"The MP had not only threatened my life but also vowed to destroy my vehicle if I do not abandon Jalango in 20 days.”

She narrated that before the fallout, the two were very close friends as she even campaigned for him in 2017.

“I had campaigned for Odhiambo till he captured the seat in 2017, and I have been loyal to him since. Things went out of hand last year when I declined to join him in fighting Governor Cornel Rasanga,” she insisted.

The nominated MCA stated that she has been trailed by strange vehicles on two occasions with several people warning her to break links with Midiwo.

She also revealed that the ODM lawmaker sent threatening messages through their phone conversation.

Siaya Police Commandant, Michael Muchiri, confirmed the reports indicating that DCI has already taken action.
