Veteran Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC), journalist Badi Muhsin is dead.
The Swahili maestro passed away on Friday, October 8, 2021. Muhsin, 67, was famed for the Kiswahili news show dubbed Dira ya Dunia on KBC.
Sources told Kenyans.co.ke, that Muhsin passed on at his home in Mombasa. The veteran anchor had his lunch and complained he wasn't feeling well.
According to his family, the veteran anchor went to take a nap but never woke up.
In 2020, the renowned TV anchor underwent surgery to remove stones in his kidney.
Muhsin worked for the national broadcaster during the Late President Daniel Moi's era from 1980 and retired in 2002. However, in 2021 he made a comeback at KBC.
His passion for broadcasting was immeasurable as revealed in most of the interviews. He never shied of pouring his heart out for the national broadcaster.
“You have to be willing to learn and prove yourself. You also have to be highly disciplined as your work puts you in the public limelight and your behaviour, at work at outside, reflects on your station,” Badi stated in an interview with Parents Magazine, affirming that working at the station taught him how to be disciplined and resilient.
He was presented with the Order of the Grand Warrior (OGW) award in 2011 by retired President Mwai Kibaki, for his long service in media.
Muhsin was also recognised as one of the best Swahili news anchors by the famed author Wallah Bin Wallah in 2010, in addition to being the first runner-up for the best Swahili translator award in KBC in 1993.

He was born to a Muslim family in Kitui County and he was the firstborn in a family of eight children. His parents were from Mombasa, which partly explains his proficiency in the Swahili language.
During his school years as a teenager, Badi excelled in drama and played leading roles in various school performances. At an early age, he was so good and confident at public speaking that he was assigned the role of making announcements during school events.
