"We, therefore, resolve that Dr. Francis Atwoli shall coordinate and help the community negotiate our stakes and be part of the next government," stated Ottichilo.

The contingent stated that ahead of the 2022 General Election, the Western region would speak in one voice. In addition, it would not entertain any leader who would not work with other leaders in forming the next government.

The Vihiga Governor declared that the region would, by all means, strive to form and, or be part of the next government. According to the leader, each community was strategizing to form or be part of the government.

Atwoli appreciated the leaders for entrusting him with the role of spearheading negotiations on behalf of the region.

"We have met here as a pro-handshake team to discuss the future for the community. We did not come here to discuss individuals. I thank Oparanya for hosting this meeting," the trade unionist remarked.

Other governors attending the meeting include Bungoma's Wycliffe Wangamati, Christopher Khaemba from Trans Nzoia, and Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong'.

Kakamega Deputy Governor Philip Kutima and 18 sitting Members of Parliament (MPs) including Saboti's Caleb Hamisi, Budalangi MP Raphael Wanjala.

Notably missing in the delegation was Amani National Congress Party Leader Musalia Mudavadi and Ford Kenya's Moses Wetangula.
