Veteran media personality, Mwanaisha Chidzuga, has addressed reports that she had joined the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), a party affiliated with Deputy President William Ruto.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Chidzuga - who is eyeing the Matuga Parliamentary seat, did not confirm or deny the move after the Deputy President announced that he had received her and other leaders from the South Coast region to his party.

On Thursday, October 14, the DP announced through his social media handles that he had received Chidzuga and Kwale Deputy Governor Fatuma Achani to UDA.

“Empowered more than 500 Kombani Town small traders in Matuga Constituency, Kwale County, later welcomed new members, including Kwale Deputy Governor Fatuma Achani and broadcaster Mwanaisha Chidzuda, to the United Democratic Alliance (UDA),” Ruto stated.

Chidzuga, who has remained coy about her move despite the DP's announcement, mentioned that she is not focused on joining parties, but what she will bring to the table.

In the conversation with Kenyans.co.ke, the media personality affirmed that she has not decided yet which party she will use in her political career.

The parliamentary seat hopeful informed Kenyans.co.ke that the Deputy President was making a move that would empower a good number of youths and women, and as a person seeking the people’s vote, she had to be present.

Chidzuga proceeded to say that the move made by the Deputy President meant a lot to the youth, and since Matuga Women are part of her campaign plans, she will give them whatever support they need.

“We are grateful that the Deputy President has visited Matuga Constituency for the first time. As an MP aspirant for Matuga constituency, I had to show my support to the people,” Mwanaisha remarked.

Chidzuga further intimated that her decision to settle on any political party will be guided by the decision of the people.

We shall go where the ground directs. Yesterday the ground was enthusiastic about UDA. If they change, then we change,” she stated.

Notably, Chidzuga welcomed all other leaders to the constituency, saying that she will give them support, because her only focus is working for the people.
