6 Family Members Killed in Grisly Road Accident

A family has been thrust into mourning after six members and another occupant were killed in a grisly road accident after the vehicle they were traveling in veered off the road and rolled several times.

A report by Citizen TV indicated that the accident took place on the evening of Wednesday, October 27, at Kwa Maji Area in Oloitokitok in Kajiado County.

Quoting a witness, the broadcaster indicated that the accident involved a Mitsubishi Lancer saloon that veered off the road and hit a concrete manhole.

The vehicle, which had six people on board, then rolled several times leading to fatalities. Three people including the driver passed away on the spot.

A mother and her two daughters, who were part of the passengers, were pronounced dead on arrival to the Oloitokitok Sub County hospital where they had been rushed for treatment.

The deceased were moved to the hospital's mortuary while the mangled-up vehicle was towed to Oloitokitok Police Station.

The accident occurred at around 7:30pm.

This comes barely a month after a single father lost his three children in a house fire on Tuesday evening, September 28, in Elburgon area of Nakuru County.

The children, two girls and a boy aged 6, 5 and 4 years, had been left in the house alone at the time of the tragic incident.

Their father had left the house to buy milk from a nearby shop and had left a charcoal jiko burning in one of the rooms.

Speaking to the media, the distraught father stated that he had received a call from a neighbour informing him that his house was on fire.

"I hurriedly came back home and found neighbours fighting the fire," he stated.

Accident Data

According to the latest available data from the National Transport and Safety Authority, road accidents had risen 2020, which was an increase from the 2019 report on road accidents.

The report showed that more people died on the road than  covid-19 the cases. The statistics indicated that over 3,114 Kenyans perished on the road inclusive of the boda boda accidents.
