NTV Business news anchor, Victor Kiprop, announced his departure from the station minutes after giving his final remarks on an episode of Your World show.
Discussing on matters regarding the state of Kenyan football within the country, Kiprop proceeded to drop the bombshell of his departure.
"This also happens to be my last show here on NTV, yes, you heard me right and I must say it feels like yesterday when I went on air and I have been here for the last 3 years, co-hosting Your world for the last 10 months. This has been a dream come true for me," he stated.
His colleagues joined him in the studio to bid him farewell, bringing a cake to celebrate his tenure.
"It's been a good journey and you have been a great host and we wish you all the best. We will miss you so much for all the hard work you put. When you broke the news to me that you're leaving, I couldn't hold my tears," a colleague stated.
His colleague, Gladys Gachanja, also lauded Kiprop for the great collaborative efforts in making the show a success.
"We really celebrate you, we thank you for being such a sport, being such a great colleague even as we walk through the journey of Your World, in a few weeks you took up the mantle and made us proud. As I say go ye forth and conquer," Gachanja stated.
Kiprop credited his confidence in front of the camera to Gachanja and the team for believing in him. Highlighting his time at the station, one of his superiors acknowledged that at first they were skeptical in granting Kiprop a chance to co-host the show alongside Gachanja.
"We had to end the show early so that we can bid you farewell. We were not very sure about you and I think you know that. So we decided to keep you on air and after the first few months, we got text messages from people enquiring about you and I informed them that you had been hosting Business news at the time," she pointed out.
Kiprop graduated with a Degree in Bachelor of Commerce at Egerton university in 2015. He joined CNBC Africa as a business reporter trainee for five months in 2017.
Weeks later, he joined Nation Media group's East African as a Business reporter before fully transitioning into a business reporter for NTV.
