Gatundu South Member of Parliament, Moses Kuria, has termed the Mt. Kenya Region as an altar where many political careers are sacrificed daily.

Taking to his social media handles on Sunday, November 14, Kuria who is ailing, called out President Uhuru Kenyatta, for being the obstacle that politicians from Mount Kenya find hard to overcome, whenever they are trying to take a step ahead in their careers.

While referring to  Mwangi Kiunjuri who was sacked as Cabinet Secretary, Kuria stated that as much as some politicians go through tough times trying to build themselves, they always meet their downfall, which he attributes to President Kenyatta.

“I have been pondering over an issue that just refuses to go away. This is about Mt. Kenya leadership. The region has become an altar where many careers are sacrificed."

“25 years ago, we raised whatever money we could to send Kiunjuri to Parliament to represent the great people of Laikipia. Quarter of a century later, the self made Mwangi Kiunjuri has gone back to where he was 25 years ago. Laikipia ashes,” an excerpt from Kuria’s statement read.

The lawmaker further noted that Kiunjuri is not the only victim, but other leaders including Paul Muite, a former member of the National Assembly, and Gitobu Imanyara, a veteran lawyer and journalist have suffered the same fate.

He stated that leaders like Martha Karua are struggling and are at the verge of losing it all, because the president, who is Mt. Kenya's kingpin, has never opened any position or shown effort to see these leaders grow.

“Martha Karua is struggling to raise her head in a crowded crowd. Paul Muite's political career withered like a failed crop before harvest,” Kuria stated.

He mentioned that unlike other leaders who have risen to presidency from Mt. Kenya, President Kenyatta has been selfish.

“Other than Jomo Kenyatta, the only other Mt Kenya leader who let leaders grow was Mwai Kibaki. That's the last time someone from our region was deliberately prepared for leadership."

"Hence, even the self-made ones like Kiunjuri are hit on the head like a dog that has eaten 30 Cents Mandazis,” Kuria lamented.

Notably, he stated that ODM leader Raila Odinga has all the power to kill other political careers, but unlike the president, he has chosen to work with them hand in hand.

"Anyang' Nyong'o and James Orengo are still going strong even when Raila Odinga had all the powers he needed to vanquish them into smithereens. They now co-exist in leadership alongside youthful leaders like John Mbadi and Edwin Sifuna," he remarked.

The vocal politician added that within a very short time, Mt. Kenya will cease being competitive.
