Citizen TV news anchor, Yvonne Okwara, has assumed the role of Business Editor at the Royal Media Services (RMS) station.
Okwara was promoted to fill the role that was left vacant after her predecessor, Joseph Bonyo, was promoted to the position of Managing Editor at the newly launched Ramogi TV.
The News Gang show host, Okwara, confirmed on both her LinkedIn and Twitter pages that she assumed her new role effective December 1, 2021.
The anchor will be in charge of the business desk alongside anchoring news, hosting News Gang on Thursdays, The Explainer and a weekly business show. She also heads Citizen TV’s research team.

Okwara, who joined the media industry 13 years ago, is an experienced voice over artist, moderator, broadcast producer, content creator and news strategist. She has previously served in various capacities at KTN News, K24, Hot 96, defunct QFM and NTV.
“If you are passionate about something, then study, not necessarily in that field. For me, I graduated with a degree in Microbiology at JKUAT and Science is my passion. Going to school is all about being educated," she explained why she joined the media despite being a microbiologist, in a past interview.
Okwara joined Citizen TV in May 2018 after exiting KTN News.
Dennis Otieno, who has been at Citizen TV for nearly 12 years will continue in his role as Senior Business reporter.
Meanwhile, Joseph Bonyo also spoke on his new role as Ramogi TV’s Managing Editor. Ramogi TV was launched on Monday, November 29.
Royal Media Services (RMS) announced a lineup of its presenters including Trevor Ombija, Sharon Ong'ao, Cleophas Oluoch, Joyce Oduor, George Bati, Lydia Okeo, Ochieng Emmanuel, Syprose Okinda and Jael Lieta.
“Ramogi TV is no exception in providing quality content. There is no other station that will serve the Luo community better than us,” Bonyo stated.
"Having pioneered vernacular radio broadcasting, we are keen to continue providing unrivalled and quality broadcast content to Kenyans in their first languages," RMS Managing Director, Wachira Waruru, added.
