Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala has revealed a new mandate Amani National Congress (ANC) has given that party leader Musalia Mudavadi.
On Thursday, January 6, Malala revealed that ANC has given Mudavadi the power to negotiate on behalf of the party and engage other politicians including Deputy President William Ruto.
He spoke to Kenyans.co.ke and stated that they were looking for a better deal and if DP Ruto and his United Democratic Alliance (UDA) allies give them a good offer they will join him.
Malala stated that ANC was keen on forming the next government and that the party would not limit itself on who they engage in coalition talks ahead of the August General Election.
"Kenyans are free to engage each other politically. As ANC, we shall not be limited on who to talk to. We have given our party leader the mandate to scout for a workable partnership that will eventually form a government. If he gets a good deal with DP, So be it," he stated.
The Senator was responding after DP pitched camp in Mudavadi's Vihiga backyard. He pleaded with Mudavadi to leave ODM leader Raila Odinga and support his presidential ambition.
Malala had caused a stir in the Western region after Ruto graced his event, the Cleo Malala Super Cup, at the Mumias Sports Complex.
“Uniting the Mulembe people using soccer Mudavadi and Wetangula confirmed guests in the 4th edition of the biggest tournament in East Africa,” Malala had announced before the event.
However, his party leader Mudavadi and Ford Kenya's Moses Wetangula did not show up for the Malala event in Mumias.
On the same day, Raila was at the Azimio la Umoja event at Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega.
Malala organized the football match to counter the Bukhungu II meeting, which had been planned by COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli.
The trade unionist stated that the Luhya community will rally behind Odinga in the August presidential poll.
