Kenyans have banded together to aid the family of Lynn Sharice, a woman who passed on after her lungs collapsed due to Covid-19 related complications.

The young lady was described by her friends as a loving, kind and hardworking person. Lynn, as her friends refer to her, was the firstborn in a family of three girls.

When the pandemic hit, the three sisters lost their jobs and they had to put their heads together on how they would survive the tough economic times.

"Having taken after their mother in terms of resilience, they put their savings together and started a small butchery. The money they made was enough to help their mother in supporting their small family," a friend, Rasta Girl, wrote on Twitter.

The sisters lost their mom on December 21, 2020, to a short illness that doctors diagnosed late. According to friends, Lynn's mother was diagnosed with a brain cyst and died due to complications from the disease.

The tragic loss left the three sisters with little income to sustain themselves and Lynn took charge of the family.

However, in August 2021, Lynn was diagnosed with a severe form of Covid-19 and was admitted to the hospital where she was informed that her lungs had been severely damaged.

High medical bills saw the sisters sell part of the estate their mother left them to cater for Lynn's medical needs and she was later discharged.

"That was who Lynn was. Always putting others' needs before hers. Always thinking about the next person. She was discharged early September, but due to the condition of her lungs, she could not do much, as she was always out of breath," their friend narrated.

"The three sisters, now orphans, went back to trying to survive and navigate life. Until December 31st, when she was again rushed to hospital in the dead of night after suffering breathing difficulties."

Lynn was admitted at Poplar Hospital in Ngara, Nairobi County and doctors transferred her to the High Dependency Unit (HDU) but this time she did not get to leave the hospital. The young woman passed away on January 16, 2022.

Her family was left with hefty bills amounting to Ksh2 million. The family is now raising the funds through campaigns in order to accord her a decent send-off.

"All she wanted was to get well, to be with her sisters. What would they do without her? But the good Lord, and life, had other plans. Lynn lost the fight on January 16th, at 2:00pm," Rast girl stated.

"The last thing she did was say a prayer with her sisters and assured them that they will never be alone. And that she and her mum would keep watch over them."
