Kitui Governor, Charity Ngilu, has criticised Deputy President William Ruto over remarks that he made about former Vice President in the Grand Coalition Government, Kalonzo Musyoka.

Addressing journalists on Friday, January 21, the Kitui County boss asked the DP to desist from using vulgar language against Kalonzo.

Further, Ngilu noted that Ruto had made a habit of insulting leaders whose areas he visited while campaigning to be the country's fifth President.

She stated that the DP made disparaging remarks against Meru Governor, Kiraitu Murungi, when he toured Meru County in November last year.

According to her, the same happened when Ruto visited Machakos on Thursday, January 20.

While cautioning the DP, Ngilu explained that he should evaluate the age difference between him and Kalonzo and accord him respect not only as a leader but as a former Vice President.

“I would like to ask William Samoei Ruto to really desist from the vulgar language that he has been using against leaders.

“The difference between Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka and William Ruto is that one is very honest. Kalonzo is a very honest, reliable and trustworthy person who has worked hard to bring peace to this country. And, therefore, comparing the two is comparing day and night,” she stated.

Ngilu also asked Ruto to stop wasting his time campaigning in Ukambani since the region is solidly behind the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader, Raila Odinga.

The governor explained that she and other leaders from the region were working on presenting a sizeable basket of votes to Azimio La Umoja.

“And that is why as a community we say we are not going to miss out on the national government this time around. We will be part and parcel of the national government that is going to be formed by the next president of this country on the ninth of August 2022,” she added.

While on a tour of Machakos on Thursday, January 20, Ruto poked fun at  Kalonzo stating that he had lost hair because of supporting Raila.

"I have no problem with anyone, I helped Raila when he was the Prime Minister but it reached a point where I realised he does not love God, I got tired then surrendered to Kalonzo.

"Kalonzo pushed him until nowadays his hair has receded. If you get someone complaining about church, there is a problem," Ruto stated.
