Fresh details have emerged over the death of former Kameme FM presenter Jedidah Wambui Weru who died on December 27, 2021, in Seattle in the United States of America(USA).
Speaking to the media on Saturday, January 22, the daughter of the ex-presenter, Esther Nyawira stated that she received information about her mother's death from one of her relatives who was called by her friend of hers.
Nyawira added they tried to get in touch with the journalist's husband to explain what had happened to the journalist who they state was in good health before Christmas Day.
In a phone call to the family, Wambui's husband stated that his late wife’s blood levels were low and that she lapsed into a coma.
He also added that her health deteriorated in two days explaining that the journalist was delirious during her last moments.
“The next day she was sicker than ever, the last day she relaxed and her blood levels were lower than ever. She was in absolute coma and she was delirious. I was there with her the whole day holding her hand until she died,” he stated at the time.
However, the family has dismissed the accounts provided by the journalist’s husband. Nyawira claimed that her mother’s behaviour changed after she got married in 2021.
“There was no family member there to take her to the aisle so for us she did not get married. My grandmother did not get the dowry, so she is not married.
“In January 2021, she stopped talking or posting on Facebook, WhatsApp, and on social media,” she stated.
Additionally, George Kamau, a family friend called for investigations into the matter stating that the events were not adding up.
Kamau added that they were yet to receive medical reports for the Wambui’s husband to back up his account of events.
“Somebody on December 22 was in good health and was hyper as always and then the next minute she is no more? It can not happen. There must be something serious that actually took place.
“This guy is not a doctor and he is trying to describe what killed Jedida and we do not have any papers or proof. Nothing has come out of the hospital,” Kamau stated.
