The presidential candidate stated that Mohamed was an experienced journalist who was experienced in the field of communication further welcoming him to the hustler nation.

"Hussein Mohammed, the renowned TV journalist, has been appointed Head of Communications in the William Ruto Presidential Campaign. Welcome to the Hustler team,"

After the announcement was made, Elgeyo Marakwet Senator, Kipchumba Murkomen took to social media to welcome the former journalist to Ruto's camp.

"Well in my brother Hussein Mohamed. We are richer and stronger with you," Murkomen stated.

During his time at Citizen TV, Mohamed was known for his interviewing skills and interviewed the DP on numerous occasions during the first and second terms of the Jubilee administration.

In 2019, the renowned journalist announced that he would end his career at Citizen TV after 10 years at the station.

During his last show, politicians who were interviewed by the journalist delivered their special messages through videos that were played after he finished his show.

After his exit from TV, the journalist who is also a communication consultant maintained a low profile and would occasionally comment on national issues through his official Twitter account.

Following his appointment, Mohammed joins the outgoing Turkana Governor Josphat Nanok who was appointed as the Director-General of Ruto’s 2022 campaign secretariat.

Despite his appointment, Wanjohi Githae, who was appointed in 2021, will continue serving as the Director of Communications for the UDA party while Emmanuel Tallam will continue working as the Director of Communications at the Office of the DP.
