Parklands and the wider Westlands are among Nairobi areas set to experience water supply interruption for two days.
Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company Limited, in a notice released on Wednesday, February 2, announced that the interruption would start on Thursday, February 3, at 6:00 a.m and last till Friday, February 4, at 6:00 p.m.
The company explained that the interruption was necessitated by the ongoing construction of the Nairobi expressway and would affect estates along Waiyaki Way.
The contractor will use the period to interconnect the relocated pipeline to the old conduit.
"Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company Limited (NCWSC) will shut down water supply pipeline along Waiyaki Way Road from Kabete Water Treatment works due to ongoing construction of the Expressway Highway.
"The shutdown will facilitate interconnection of relocated pipeline to the old pipeline along Waiyaki Way Road from Old Safaricom Building to the junction of Waiyaki Way Road and Wangari Mathai Road starting from 6:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 3, 2022, to Friday, February 4, 2022, at 6:00 p.m.," cautioned the notice.
The closure is expected to enable the release of the road section between Old Safaricom house, the Junction of Waiyaki Way Road and Prof Wangari Mathai Road to the expressway road contractor.
Other affected areas include estates along Waiyaki Way, Rhapta Road, Parklands Road, Mpaka Road, Chiromo Lane, Manyani Road and Church Road.
Most affected, however, will be the whole of Parklands, Westlands, Muguga Green, Nairobi School and Kabete Barracks estates.
Sarit Center and its surrounding areas will also experience disruption.
NCWSC urged its customers to use water sparingly during the period of interruption.
Throughout the construction of the expressway, which is expected to end mid-2022, several sectors including water, electricity and transport have experienced varying degrees of interruption to facilitate the transfer of pipes and power poles.
