Car enthusiasts are often looking for the ultimate car that will give them a pulsating adrenaline rush. 

Hence, they spare no expense in purchasing luxurious cars that define class, particularly for the the high and mighty in the society. A number of these cars have been spotted in the busy streets of Nairobi and on highways by hawk-eyed Kenyans and have since gone viral on many occasions. 

Kenyans.co.ke takes a look at such luxurious cars spotted in Kenya, that almost brought everything to standstill.

The impeccable race car was recently spotted in Kenya for its sleek features and design. The exquisite car is set to be among the vehicles that will feature in this year's East African Classic Safari Rally. 

The state-of-the-art customised car will be used by American race car drivers, Ken Block and Alex Gelsomino. Past reports indicate that there are only 19 similar cars in the world. According to an auction dated back in 2016, the car was valued at Ksh150 million. 

Specifications:

The vehicle exudes the persona of a powerful machine as it has an engine capacity of 2994 CC and 255 brake horsepower (BRP) at 7000 revolutions per minute (RPM).

It can also attain a speed of 255 kilometres per hour with a weight of around 1,057 kilograms.

The vintage car created a buzz in the social circles after it was spotted during the official swearing-in ceremony of Nairobi Governor Ann Kananu in November 2021. 

The ceremonial limo has been used sparingly on Kenyan roads- with past history recording only two other former governors and a number of mayors been accorded the privilege of using the car.

Reports indicate that there exists only two makes of the classic car in Africa, one in Kenya and the other in Zimbabwe.

Specifications:

The vehicle has an engine capacity of 3995 cc 6-cylinder overhead valve. The car can also move at a top speed of 180 km/hr.

Mercedes-Maybach S600 

The luxurious Maybach was spotted in 2017 in the streets of Nairobi when President Uhuru Kenyatta unveiled the brand after his election victory. It caused a frenzy as Kenyans marveled at the site of the powerful German machine.

Listed as one of the highly rated Mercedes currently available, the vehicle costs at an average of Ksh22.7 million 

Specifications:

The German machine has a fuel consumption of 11.7 litres and has a turbocharged V12 cylinder engine. The engine produces a maximum power of 530 PS and has a maximum torque of 830 newton-meter. The vehicle can hit a speed of 250km/hr on the road.

Bentley Bentayga

The gentle beast became the talk of time due to its affiliation with the high and mighty of the society. Associated with the likes of the Grand Mullah, Ahmednasir Abdullahi, the British car defines Kenyans' might on splashing large sums of money for luxury.

The car is estimated to cost around Ksh40 million.

Specifications:

Bentayga delivers a thrilling drive with a 6.0 litre W12 engine and a 8HP90 automatic transmission.  Viewed from the top, the vehicle has a sculpted front bumper and large wing vent that adds detail to the streamlined profile.

For those seeking power, the vehicle reaches a speed of 0 to 100 km/hr in just 4.5 seconds effortlessly. It can reach up to a top speed of 290 km/hr due to the powerful eight-cylinder piston engine.

Branded with customised number plates, the conspicuous vehicle has been spotted in the busy streets of Nairobi on numerous occasions. The 2017 model belongs to Presidential aspirant Jimi Wanjigi. 

The vehicle is loved for its sleek combination of power, detail and classic proportions.

Specifications:

The coupe has a fuel capacity of 100 litres, a V 12 engine with a horsepower of 453 rpm. The beast can travel at a top speed of 155 mph and accelerates from 0-96 kmh in 5.6 seconds.

For the car enthusiasts, the car exhibits a blend of power and luxury with a touch of class. The car was spotted in 2020, when President Uhuru Kenyatta drove himself in various parts of Central region. 

Further, media personality Jeff Koinange has also been spotted with the German machine. The retail price of the luxury vehicle costs at Ksh14.3 million.

Specifications:

The vehicle has a turbocharged 4.0 litre V8 engine with a horsepower of 416 and a nine speed automatic transmission. G-wagons are typically armoured hence a preferred vehicle for government, embassy or corporate use.

The vehicle boasts of a maximum speed of 220 km/hr

Reported to be valued at Ksh30 million, the car is hailed for its exceptional performance. The car has a distinctive aesthetic look that gives it an immutable presence. 

The late billionaire Chris Kirubi is one of the wealthy businessmen who owned one of the priced cars.

Built for speed, the car has a top speed of 335 km/hr and can accelerate to 100km at a record 3.6 seconds. The vehicle has an engine capacity of 5950 cc and a maximum torque of 1500-5000rpm.

However, billionaire and B-club owner Barry Ndengeye is a notable Kenyan who owns the posh vehicle. Known for customising his cars, Barry's model is fitted with carbon fibre.

The Murcielago incorporates a 6.5 litre V12 engine and takes only 3.2 seconds to reach 100km/hr from a standing start. The vehicle travels at a top speed of 342 km/hr
