Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi on Sunday, February 13, sensationally claimed that he had witnessed a senior government official offering opposition leaders a chance to rig on their behalf in the upcoming General Election.

Mudavadi claimed that while he was in the One Kenya Alliance (OKA), he and his principals were approached by a member of the alleged deep state who offered to create a parallel election tallying system that would guarantee them an arranged victory.

The alleged deep state agent only had one demand - that the four One Kenya Alliance (OKA) principals stick together until the voting date.

"I was somewhere with Moses Wetangula, Kalonzo Musyoka and Gideon Moi. Someone in the government stated that they had the capacity to create a backroom IEBC if we can be together," the ANC boss stated.

Mudavadi, who has since walked out of OKA together with Wetangula, described the idea floated to him as an effort to undermine democracy. He noted that neither he, nor Kenyans would be cajoled to vote for any particular leader.

"I want to say this, we do not want that. Kenyans must be given their due constitutional right. Their decisions to vote for whoever they choose must be respected, honored and must be upheld so that Kenya can be stable and democracy can be our guide," he added.

Mudavadi's comments come at a time when allegations of some forces planning to interfere with the elections have begun doing rounds during political rallies.

Muranga Woman Representative Sabina Chege on Thursday, February 10, caused a political storm after she made remarks that some interpreted to mean that there was interference in the 2017 General Election.

"In Central I have heard them saying that we stole the elections. There is some truth in that. They should know that if we knew how to rig in the previous elections, what makes you think we will not do something," the Women Rep claimed.

Chege was summoned by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) a day after she made the remarks. The legislator was asked to appear before the commission's Code of Conduct Enforcement Committee on Tuesday, February 15.

"Whereas the commission is seized of a report and material against yourself in regard to the violation of clauses 6(a) and 6(I) of the Electoral Code of Conduct.

"You are hereby required to attend the Offices of the Commission at the Anniversary Towers on Tuesday, February 15 at 0900hrs in the afternoon for examination by the Electoral Code of Conduct," read the letter addressed to the Woman Rep.

Sabina has since clarified that she was referring to the well coordinated voter registration exercise which happened before the General Election and favoured the ruling party.
