Presidential hopeful and businessman Jimi Wanjigi was ejected from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) National Delegates Conference (NDC) event.

Wanjigi was chased away by the delegates after police allowed him entry into the NDC meeting that was going on at the Kasarani Gymnasium on Saturday, February 26.

The businessman turned politician, was accompanied by his supporters to the heavily guarded venue, but the party supporters roughed him up in the process of kicking him out.

Wanjigi had initially announced that he would join the NDC with a delegation of 2000 supporters, accusing the ODM leader, Raila Odinga, of trying to forcefully wrestle the party's presidential nomination certificate from him.

Chaos broke out after two rival groups disagreed on Wanjigi's entry into Kasarani. Wanjigi had to be escorted to the Kasarani Stadium Police Station.

The businessman, who is a life member of the Orange party, has expressed interest in flying the party's flag in the August 9 presidential polls.

The businessman was locked out of the party's presidential race after the ODM leader Raila Odinga was endorsed.

Wanjigi's woes in ODM have been escalating and affecting his allies. On Wednesday, Party officials of the ODM branch in Machakos suspended their chairman, Jacob Mule, alleging he supports the tycoon rather than party leader, Raila Odinga.

Addressing the press on Tuesday, February 22, the members argued that Mule shifted his allegiance to Wanjigi, causing tensions within the party.

"Today, we have resolved to suspend Jacob Mule and he is no longer supposed to transact any business on behalf of Machakos ODM County Office," stated a member.

In a statement, the group also claimed that Mule, who was newly installed into the position, was not cooperative with the party and neither championed its ideologies.

"We had a problem with our newly elected chairman who has not been very cooperative and is not supporting our presidential candidate who is Raila Amolo Odinga.
