A political campaigner for Deputy President William Ruto's United Democratic Alliance (UDA) was found dead and his body dumped in a river in Nyeri County.

Joseph Ochieng' Handa aka Obude was approached by people in an unmarked vehicle who requested an audience with him in Kawangware.

His friends and people who were with him on the day he went missing reported that the men who picked Obude were armed. The friends called Obude's mother and informed her that the grassroots mobilizer had been picked up.

Obude's family reported the matter to Muthangari Police Station and they began searching for their kin in hospitals and public mortuaries in the Nairobi Metropolitan area.

However, their efforts were futile after they received information that a body fitting the description of their kin was discovered in a river in Nyeri. The family rushed to the area mortuary and found Obude's body badly mutilated.

His disappearance and untimely death were condemned by UDA supporters led by Public Communications and Digital Strategist specialist, Dennis Itumbi, who pointed an accusing finger at police officers and recalled his own ordeal where he was taken by unknown people.

His brother, David Itumbi, shared photos of the Public Communications and Digital Strategist specialist in an unnamed health facility, with bruises and bleeding.

Itumbi vowed to expose his abductors after his full recovery and told the press that he was responding well to treatment but would frequent the hospital for medical review.

Detailing the treacherous ordeal, Itumbi stated that he had suffered triple fractures on the left side as well as a fracture on the right leg. He had also sustained multiple dislocations on his upper limbs.

Deputy President, William Ruto also blamed the government for the abduction and torture of Itumbi. In a statement, the DP accused the very government of plotting the ordeal that befell the outspoken strategist.

He hinted that police officers were behind the attack on Itumbi that resulted in his hospitalization.
