Ford Kenya Party leader, Moses Wetangula, who is also a Kenya Kwanza principal, has questioned the academic credentials of Raila Odinga Presidential Campaigns spokesperson, Prof Makau Mutua.

Speaking during a rally in Kakamega County on Friday, March 5, Wetangula blasted Mutua stating that his professorship is doubtful.

Wetangula, while addressing a rally, hit out at Mutua stating that just because he had travelled and worked in the United States, it does not mean that he is a qualified Professor of law.

The Ford Kenyan leader further castigated Mutua over his remarks on Wiper Party leader, Kalonzo Musyoka, who the Kenya Kwanza brigade is courting.

“That guy who was insulting Kalonzo is a very junior lawyer. He was in the first year when I was in the third year and he has never had anything to distinguish him as a lawyer.

"Anyone can go to America and come back calling himself a Professor. That dubious professorship gives nobody a license to be rude to others. Bwana Mutua, you being with Raila Odinga does not give you the license to besmirch, insult and degrade Kalonzo Musyoka," Wetangula remarked.

While still sustaining his aggression against Mutua, Wetangula took the opportunity to ask Kalonzo of the One Kenya Alliance (OKA) to join the Kenya Kwanza movement, stating that he was safer with Deputy President William Ruto than Raila Odinga.

“My brother Kalonzo, I know you are my friend and I was worried when I saw some upstart Professor speaking poorly about you. I stand here as your long-time friend to defend you,” he stated.

“We are ready to work with Kalonzo Musyoka to boost our numbers and this person is disrespecting him. When you disrespect him, you are disrespecting Kenyans.”

Wetangula's remarks on Prof Mutua come in the backdrop of a statement made by the Azimio La Umoja think tank member terming Kalonzo as a politician chasing the wind. Prof Mutua had opined that the Wiper leader does not stand a chance of winning the presidency in the August 9 polls regardless of who his competitor was.

Mutua stated that there is no path forward for Kalonzo as a presidential candidate during an interview on KTN News hosted by Ken Mijungu.

“It would be a theatre of absurd if Kalonzo would go all alone to the ballot. There is no way he can win against Raila Odinga and William Ruto,” Mutua stated.
