Celebrated Citizen TV anchor, Lulu Hassan, together with her husband, Rashid Abdalla, hosted a high-end party in Mombasa County as they prepared to premiere their new show Sultana which replaced Zora.

The event, which was held in the famous Fort Jesus on Monday, March 7, was graced by stars who played various roles in the just-ended TV drama series and its predecessor Maria.

Those in attendance included Yasmin Said (Maria), Robert Agengo, and Quincy Rapando who played Fela and Kwame in Zora respectively.

Other actors and actresses who attended the event were Blessing Lung'aho (Madiba) and Jacky Matubia (Nana).

The event, which was filled with pomp and colour, was also dominated by fireworks that lit up the skies. The TV stars also took to stage to dance even as the theme song for Sultana was played.

Prior to the premiere of the show, Lulu took to social media to express her gratitude to Kenyans for the reception the shows have received since Maria first aired in 2019.

"Delivery of this new baby is today in a few hours from now. You are the biological parents. Hoping you are ready to nature it," she stated.

"Sultana has finally arrived. I pray that we receive her well and that God may bless her."

The couple is behind some of the Swahili soap operas that have taken the airwaves by storm. The shows have also received numerous awards including the breakout characters like Maria who have become famous among Kenyans.

Maria ended in March 2021, and Zora immediately started afterward. During the 2021 Women in Film Awards (WIFA), Lulu was named as the best TV producer in recognition for overseeing the production of Maria.

As Zora ended, former Tahidi High actress, Sarah Hassan took to social media to thank the duo for giving her the opportunity to express her talent in the show.

"It’s been an absolute pleasure working with such amazing people. Thank you Lulu Hassan and Rashid Abdalla for the opportunity to bring," she stated.
