The One Kenya Alliance (OKA) is set to enter a pre-election agreement with the Azimio La Umoja led by President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

According to a report by NTV, OKA has agreed to a deal with Azimio on the condition that one of its principals deputises the Azimio presidential leader.

OKA is expected to join Uhuru and Azimio in signing the deal at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) on Saturday, March 12.

The Kimathi Street-based media house further reported that the coalition deal between OKA and Azimio La Umoja will see more positions created should the political faction clinch the presidency in the August 9 General Election.

Reports further indicate that upon the signing of the deal at KICC, the two political factions will proceed to Jacaranda Grounds for a political rally.

OKA principals, Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper), Gideon Moi (KANU), Martha Karua (Narc Kenya), Irungu Nyakera (Farmers Party), Cyrus Jirongo (United Democratic Party), David Ochieng (Movement for Growth and Development), while signing a coalition pact on Friday, March 11, noted that once they join a political coalition, they will do so as to equal members.

“Whichever political coalition we join, we do not want to be told that this was already predetermined. We want to join as equal partners and have equal voices and say,” state Martha Karua.

Should OKA enter into an agreement with Azimio La Umoja, it will end the long speculations from Kenyans on its way forward and seal the cracks that had already started showing.

On Thursday, KANU Secretary General, Nick Salat, accused Wiper’s Kalonzo Musyoka of wasting time by failing to take the bold step and declare his stand.

Salat accused the Wiper leader of delaying OKA from joining the Azimio La Umoja, threatening that KANU would go ahead and sign the deal with the former Prime Minister’s political coalition.

The deal between OKA and Azimio will be Uhuru’s biggest win as he has been on record negotiating to have the two teams work together.

Uhuru, who is the party leader of Jubilee, is also on record backing Raila’s candidature, reneging on a pact they entered with his deputy, William Ruto, in 2013 in which they agreed that he would support his (Ruto’s) candidature upon the expiry of his term in office.

The deal between OKA and Azimio La Umoja will also create a formidable force against DP Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza which comprises himself, Musalia Mudavadi of Amani National Coalition (ANC) and Moses Wetangula of Ford Kenya.
