With the ever rising rate of unemployment in the country, landing a job is today an uphill task for most graduates.

However, having  additional short courses on top of your degree can give you an edge, in the competitive job market.

Certified Public Accountants(CPA) 

CPA is a popular course in Kenya. The course is offered in six modules by the Kenya Accountants and Secretaries National Examinations Board (KASNEB).

Some CPA (K) professional end up as finance managers, tax consultants, practitioners  auditors and  professional accountants.

The course also has a wide range of opportunities in terms of self employment as tax consultants.

Digital marketing is an excellent course for anyone who is planning to run  an online business. The course covers areas such as social media marketing ,Search Engine Optimization, Google Ads, and email marketing.

Like many spoken language, sign language is a  language with its own unique set of rules of grammar and syntax. It's an ideal course of students or graduates who pursued courses in education, media, lingustics and international relations.

In Kenya today, there are opportunities in different government departments for language interpreters, including courts. TV stations also hires sign language experts.

Foreign Languages

 A second language can also boost your chances of landing a job. You could work as a translator or language tutor with an organisation or independently.

 A foreign language  also  gives you a competitive edge over your peers when it comes to careers in the international market. 

Employers are always on the look  out for professionals who can communicate with customers or potential customers from different markets in expanding overseas markets.

Computer Packages 

Having basic computer skills is a requirement in most fields. Many institutions offer a range of packages, including Microsoft Office.

Today, computer knowledge is necessary to fit in a fast-paced digital world.
