Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika has faulted President Uhuru Kenyatta over his allegations that there was a plot to impeach him after the 2017 polls.
While speaking to Citizen TV's Jeff Koinange on Wednesday, March 30, the Nakuru Senator dismissed the claims, noting that the President ought to apologise to Kenyans for what she termed as cheap propaganda.
The lawmaker pointed out that the claims had been disputed by both Deputy President William Ruto and ODM party leader Raila Odinga, hence proving that the President had a motive for the claims.
Kihika asked Jeff to tell President Kenyatta that Kenyans deserve to know the details that backed his claims.
"The President was lying, he needs to apologize to Kenyans. However, since I've told you that DP Ruto and Raila Odinga came out and said, there was no such thing."
"Even the legislators had not heard of such a thing. Then you need to call Uhuru Kenyatta here and have him answer that question so that then he can give us the details so that is why I term this as propaganda. " Kihika stated.
In addition, the senator took time to address the President directly on camera over the impeachment allegations.
"Everything President Uhuru has done this far to try and make sure that he stops Ruto’s momentum has failed and that is why he has come up with these allegations of being impeached, which is a lie."
"You can show me the camera which I need to look at to address the President; it is actually very unfortunate and he needs to come out and give out the facts, otherwise withdraw and stop inciting tribal groups," she affirmed.
Homa Bay Senator, Moses Kajwang' however, intimated that President Kenyatta had a right as a citizen of the country to air out his views and fears.
"The president has his right as a citizen to express himself and his fears," he stated.
During a meeting with Mt Kenya elders on Saturday, March 26, it is reported that Uhuru made public the plots by Ruto have him impeached.
Both Raila and Ruto have come out to refute the allegations.
Further, the council of elders chairman and master of ceremony of the State House function denied the impeachment talks during the session.
"I was the master of ceremony in that function from the beginning to the end and I want to declare today that no such thing was mentioned during the meeting, let alone by the president,"one of the elders stated.
