The MP also blamed politicians allied to Deputy President William Ruto, over the incident which he noted almost claimed their lives.

"Today we almost got killed in soy constituency Uasin Gishu County at the Burial of Mzee Jackson Kibor. Our chopper was completely destroyed and we had to look for alternative means mid-air… Congratulations  Hon Caleb Kositany," the post by the House Minority Whip read.

Homabay Women Representative Gladys Wanga also added her voice to the matter and pointed an accusing finger at DP Ruto's confidants.

"This level of desperation is appalling. An MP organizing thugs to stone Baba's chopper in midair is the highest level of political primitivity. William Ruto must be happy now," she stated.

Embakassi East MP Babu Owino, who was in the company of the ODM party leader in Uasin Gishu, claimed that the attack on the chopper, while it was flying out, was an attempt on their lives and condemned the nature of politics that was witnessed today.

"This was an attempt on our lives at Mzee Kibor’s burial Ceremony at Soi Constituency in Uasin Gishu County," Owino remarked.

Kakamega governor Wycliffe Opranya condemned the attack on the helicopter and urged law authorities to investigate the issue. He also pointed out that supporters of different politicians need to exercise tolerance as the country gears up for the August polls.

Earlier in Elgeyo Marakwet County, the ODM party leader was heckled and had to cut short his rally.

"I condemn the attack on Azimio presidential candidate Rt Hon Raila Odinga by rowdy youths. I call upon security agents to swing into action and bring to book all those who participated in such a primitive act to stop such incidents from escalating during this campaign period," Oparanya stated.

"I thank God that Baba and other leaders who accompanied him escaped unhurt during the attack. He landed safely at my Likuyani home this evening ahead of his second day of vote hunt campaigns in Rift Valley that takes him to West Pokot County on Saturday," he added.
