Kirinyaga Woman Representative, Purity Wangui Ngirici, has ridiculed her Laikipia counterpart, Catherine Waruguru after she lost in the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Laikipia East parliamentary nominations.

In a thinly veiled attack, Ngirici ridiculed Waruguru for failing to get her acts together in the party primaries despite her abrasive nature. The Woman Rep shared a previous video of Waruguru campaigning in her (Ngirici’s) Kirinyaga backyard, where she outlined a ‘lineup’ for the area’s electorate in the August polls.

In the clip, Waruguru - who was accompanying the de facto leader of UDA, Deputy President William Ruto - called on the Kirinyaga electorate to ignore Ngirici and Narc Kenya’s Martha Karua and instead vote in Anne Waiguru for a second term as the governor.

“I want to ask you, the people of Kirinyaga, to vote in Waiguru as the governor for a second term and let Karua and Ngirici find something else to do,” says Waruguru in Swahili.

Ngirici - who was once a force defender of Ruto - captioned the video in what largely inclines to ridicule.

“Aaaah kajaribu kupanga watu huyu lakini kapangwa mapema.Over to you in Laikipia (She tried to make plans for other people and forgot to make plans for herself. Over to you in Laikipia,” wrote Ngirici.

Ngirici fell out with the UDA party after her arch-rival, Anne Waiguru, joined the Deputy President-led party.

Ngirici is in the race to unseat Waiguru who is also seeking a second term. While Woman Rep has made it clear she will run as an independent candidate, the incumbent governor will run on a UDA ticket. They will also face off with Narc Kenya leader, Martha Karua, who will be attempting to clinch the seat in August.

At the same time, Gatundu South Member of Parliament, Moses Kuria, has also indirectly attacked Waruguru over her loss.

Kuria, who is known for his outspoken nature and psychological wars, shared a photo of Waruguru on his Facebook page without a word.

The Gatundu South MP, who is the leader of Chama Cha Kazi and a Kiambu gubernatorial hopeful, has always been at loggerheads with Waruguru and the two Legislators do not see eye-to-eye despite both being in Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza alliance.

Waruguru - who was seen as a frontrunner in the Laikipia East UDA primaries - lost to the incumbent MP, Amin Deddy.

In his victory speech, Deddy stated that the people of Laikipia East are interested in the development and not abusive language used by leaders.

“The people of Laikipia East are development conscious, that is what they want. They are not interested in insults,” he stated.

Waruguru has not spoken on the loss yet.
