President Uhuru Kenyatta delivered a special message to the children of the late President Mwai Kibaki during the latter's State Funeral at Nyayo Stadium.
While concluding his remarks on Friday, April 29, Uhuru dedicated a Bible verse to Kibaki's children.
Uhuru urged Judy Kibaki, Jimmy Kibaki, David Kibaki, and Tony Kibaki to hold on to the words of Psalms 30:5 while mourning their father.
Their sorrow, he prayed, would not last forever. He also extended his administration's support to the family.
"To Judy, Jimmy, David, and Tony and to the entire family, I deeply share in your loss and I pray that you find comfort in the words of the psalmist that says 'Hold on my child for weeping may endure only for a night but joy comes in the morning'.
"Remember my dear brothers and sisters that no nights can last forever. The sun will always rise and with the dawn comes hope and light," he stated.
Uhuru added that the legacy of Kibaki would be remembered not only in the country but also in Africa. He described his godfather as s true statesman.
"President Mwai Kibaki's legacy illuminates our nation and the great African continent placing him as one of the greatest Statemen of his generation," President Kenyatta eulogised.
He added that the former president influenced his presidency revealing that Kibaki was the motivation behind his mega infrastructural projects.
During the funeral service, Uhuru's closeness with the Kibaki family was witnessed as he was often asked to join the family when the clergy gave special prayers to the family.
On his part, Jimmy stated that Uhuru was part of their family and that Kibaki was always elated to hear the President's voice on TV.
He also revealed that Uhuru played a big role in Kibaki's treatment and medication.
"Your government has assisted him in everything he required. Indeed in his latter years when his medical condition was deteriorating, you personally ensured that he had the best medical care in Kenya and we are truly grateful," Jimmy stated.
