The Marathon takes place on May 8, and will result to some roads leading to the airports being closed for several hours.

Other roads which will be closed include Haile Selassie Avenue, Moi Avenue, City Hall Way, Taifa Road, Parliament Road, Mama Ngina Street, and Kimathi Street.

“Motorists are advised to avoid the closed sections of the roads and follow available alternative roads as will be directed by traffic police officers on the ground.

“The marathon route runs through various roads including the Nairobi Expressway,"  KeNHA stated.

KeNHA also cautioned that Kenyatta Avenue, Koinange Street, Monrovia Street, Muindi Mbingu Street, University Way, Simba Street, Globe Roundabout, Kipande Road, Museum Hill Road, Bunyala Road and Masaba Road will also be closed during the marathon hours.

The intersection of Mombasa Road towards Likoni Road will be closed between midnight and 10am.

Sports Cabinet Secretary, Amina Mohammed, described the marathon as a perfect tribute to President Uhuru Kenyatta for his immense contribution to the sports industry and his infrastructural development legacy.

"The Nairobi City marathon will be held for the next 10 years and we hope it will continue to commemorate the tremendous milestones achieved by the president in his tenure,” CS Amina stated.
