Azimio la Umoja presidential candidate Raila Odinga did not hold his tongue when lashing out at Malindi Member of Parliament Aisha Jumwa and Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi over their decision to support Deputy President William Ruto.

Speaking in Kilifi on Thursday, May 12, Raila claimed that he introduced Jumwa to the political game and she ended up betraying him and joining forces with his political nemesis, Ruto.

Raila stated that he picked Jumwa from the gutters, cleaned her up and taught her the game and how to navigate the political scene only for her to move from his camp.

He stated that he was not pleased with her character lately and accused her of shaking her waist to impress voters instead of focusing on issues affecting her constituents.

The Azimio presidential aspirant noted that despite helping Jumwa to climb the political ladder she has turned her back on him and called upon Kilifi residents to abandon her just as she did him.

"I picked her when she was nothing and through ODM, she rose through to become someone respected. However, she is now with our enemy dancing and showing off her waste. I do not want anything with the waist but make sure you punish her for turning against ODM," he implored Kilifi voters.

Odinga stated that he felt betrayed by Jumwa and Kingi and asked the residents of Kilifi to punish the two leaders in the August elections.

The former Prime Minister spoke a few days after Kingi defected from Azimio to join the Ruto-led Kenya Kwanza coalition under his Pamoja African Alliance (PAA) party.

He pointed out that he was Kingi's political godfather and despite holding numerous meetings to understand the governor's vision, the county boss only insisted that he wanted to form a party for the coastal people.

"He told me that he did not have a voice and I asked him when he did not have a voice at this party. I sat down with him and Hassan Joho and Junet and asked him when he lacked a voice here. He told me things had changed and he brought this party called PAA then when he came with the party he went to Jubilee and not with us. That's when I realized this guy wants to leave," Raila stated.

“I held this guy's hand from university and now he has joined hands with our rivals and promised them that he will deliver 50 per cent of the votes from this coastal region then he will be given the Speaker's seat in the Senate.

"He just wanted to go there from the beginning. He has given me what we term donkey kicks. I want you people of Kilifi t give them the ultimate donkey kicks in the upcoming elections," he added.

Kingi and Jumwa have both ditched Raila and they are now supporting DP Ruto for the presidency. An agreement deposited at the Registrar of Political Parties by Kenyan Kwanza showed that Kingi would be given the Senate Speaker slot if he delivers the coastal region.

Jumwa, on the other hand, has been keen to succeed Kingi as the next governor of Kilifi in the August polls. She will be facing off with deputy governor Gideon Mung’aro.
