With 76 days to the August 9 General Election, Azimio la Umoja One Kenya presidential aspirant, Raila Amollo Odinga, and his running mate, Martha Karua, have unveiled the campaign team that will be tasked with popularising their candidature.
The campaign team has been subdivided to 16 clusters covering different regions, with each cluster tasked with the responsibility of ensuring Raila gets maximum votes in their region.
The team consists of over 50 political heavyweights who are loyal to the former Prime Minister and the Narc Kenya party leader.
Here is the full breakdown of the team.
National Team
The national team has been tasked with transversing all parts of the country in the hunt for votes for Raila and Karua. The team consists of; Junet Mohamed, Peter Kenneth, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, Nyeri deputy governor Carol Karugu, Philip Pande and Likoni MP Mishi Mboko.
Others in the national team include Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi, Kitutu Chache MP Richard Onyonka, Sabaoti MP Caleb Amisi, nominated MP Maina Kamanda and Kieni MP Kanini Kega.
Western Kenya
The Western team will be led by Kakamega governor, Wycliffe Oparanya, and Defence Cabinet Secretary, Eugene Wamalwa. Other members include Kanduyi MP Wafula Wamunyinyi, Trans Nzoia gubernatorial hopeful George Natembeya, Kimilili MP Eseli Simiyu, Navakholo MP Emmanuel Wangwe, Vihiga Senator George Khaniri, Busia gubernatorial hopeful Sospeter Ojaamong, and MP Ayub Savula.
Coastal Team
The team in hunt for the votes in the Coastal region will be headed by Mombasa governor Hassan Ali Joho. To consolidate Raila's votes in the region, Joho will be assisted by businessman Suleiman Shahbal, former CAS Gideon Mungaro, former MP Joyce Lay, Mvita MP Abdulswamad Shariff, Omar Boga, Zuleika Hassan, Naomi Shaaban, Khadija Ngala and Kilifi Senator, Steward Madzayo.
Rift Valley
Being the backyard of Deputy President William Ruto, Raila has picked bigwigs in the region to lead his quest in getting as many votes as possible from Rift Valley region.
Former Ambassador Stephen Tarus has been tasked with leading the team in the region. Others in the team include, Kanu Secretary-General Nick Salat, Cherangani MP Joshua Kutuny, West Pokot governor John Lonyangapuo, former CS John Munyes and David Pkosing.
Central
Agriculture CS Peter Munya, Murang'a Woman Representative Sabina Chege and Nakuru governor Lee Kinyanjui have been tasked to deliver the Mount Kenya votes.
Others in the Central Kenya team include Jamleck Kamau, Ephraim Maina, Priscillah Nyokabi, governor Francis Kimemia, Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu, Jubilee Secretary-General Jeremiah Kioni, and Nopeu Secretary General, Rodgers kipembe.
Nairobi
Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi and CAS Rachel Shebesh have been tasked to deliver Nairobi votes to Azimio la Umoja including all the aspirants.
Nyanza
Kisii governor James Ongwae, ODM chairperson John Mbadi and Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati have been tasked with delivering the Nyanza vote.
Siaya governor Cornel Rasanga, Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma and all the aspirants.
Maasai Land
Kajiado governor Ole Lenku will lead the team to deliver the Maasai land votes assisted by Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina.
North Eastern Region
The region will consist of Wajir, Garissa and Mandera counties. Faisal Abass has been appointed as the team leader. Others include Senator Abdul Haji, governor Ali Korane, Hassan Noor, Garissa Woman Rep Fatuma Gedi and Adan Keynan.
Ukambani
With Wiper party leader position remaining unknown in Azimio, Raila has tasked Makueni governor Kivutha Kibwana to lead the Ukambani region.
Others who will be in the team include Nzioka Waita, Rachel Nyamai, Mwenge Mutuse, Alex Nganga, Mutua Katuku, and Caleb Mutiso.
Women League
To win women support across the country, Kitui governor Charity Ngilu will lead the Women league. She will be assisted by CAS Beatrice Elachi, Rachel Shebesh, Kisumu Woman Rep Rosa Buyu, Beatrice Askul and Judy Pareno.
Youth League
The youth league will be led by Jubilee nominated MP Isaac Ngugi. Others who have made it to the line up include Janet Ruthuku, Hezena Lemaletian, Solomon Kuria, Alex Matere and Anthony Manyara.
They are all set to embark on active grassroots campaigns starting next week.
