Deputy President William Ruto has ridiculed President Uhuru Kenyatta and his team after they failed to impeach him.

Speaking in Kilifi, the DP reiterated that he is not someone the alleged "deep state" can steal votes from and neither is he intimidated by the 'system'.

He pointed out that he has been the Deputy President for almost a decade and he knows the ins and outs of government and every system within it.

"I hear them say they have a something called system and deep state and they will use that to win the election. As I stand here, I am the deputy president of Kenya. They failed in their attempts to impeach me," Ruto stated.

"As you look at me, do I look like someone whose votes can be stolen? Let us be honest, that is daydreaming and it is impossible. Is there a system that as deputy president I don't know of or even that deep state? These people will not do anything," he added.

DP Ruto also mocked Azimio presidential flagbearer, Raila Odinga, for being a stooge of President Uhuru, saying he cannot, therefore, return the port activities to Mombasa since his so-called masters are the sole beneficiaries of the port.

"I want to say without any fear of contradiction, my competitor has no capacity to do anything about port operations and the land question because his sponsors are actually the problem," the DP stated.

"How can a stooge claim they can do anything before they report to their masters? Even if he tries doing anything, his lights will be dimmed by them. He is a project and if you want any work done, you must talk to the owner. He cannot do anything, even the owner lacks direction."

Ruto discouraged Kilifi voters from picking Raila over him, further accusing the ODM leader of being confused. He claimed that Raila has to seek direction and talking points from President Uhuru and his team.

His remarks come barely 24 hours after he asked for forgiveness from President Uhuru. During the National Prayer Breakfast, the DP admitted that he might have fallen short of President Uhuru’s expectations and asked to be forgiven.

“I also know that serving as a Deputy President, I may have fallen short of the expectations of my boss President Uhuru Kenyatta. My good friend, I ask for your forgiveness,” the deputy president stated.

“I also know that in this journey, many people have hurt me but in this prayer breakfast, I forgive everybody. I want us to go into this election free of the debt of heart and free of the debt of forgiveness,” he added.
