Detectives attached to Naivasha Police Station are hunting a woman who reportedly fled with her lover's vehicle that had over Ksh700,000 stashed inside.
Sources privy to the matter intimated to the media that the two arrived in Naivasha town from Narok on Saturday, June 11. The two were set to go on a merry-making spree during the weekend.
However, the woman escaped on Sunday morning, June 12, without her lover's knowledge, fleeing with his vehicle that had the cash. The man is said to have earned the cash from sale of farm produce.
The man, who rushed to file a police report, pointed out that he had failed to find his lover after hours of scouring nearby spots.
Detectives attached to the case are trying to establish the details of the incident, including how the woman slipped away and if she drugged the man before fleeing.
Theft cases from stupefied revellers have been on the rise in the country, with police stating that unsuspecting victims have recorded multiple statements at various police stations.
The issue gained traction after the demise of Samuel Mugo Muvota, a businessman who was shot multiple times in broad daylight at Mirema, Nairobi county.
Detectives from the DCI, later on, revealed Muvota's reclusive lifestyle, including an intricate web of stupefying queens who stole valuables from unsuspecting victims.
After the incident, police spokesperson, Bruno Shioso, urged revellers to be alert while partying at various entertainment joints in order to avoid falling victim to the spiking trend.
He also advised party goers to visit familiar places and in the company of people they trust.
"Go out and enjoy your drink but be cautious. Just know who you are with, go to nice clubs where you are well known. If you go to a club where you are known is much easier than just going to random places," Shioso stated.
"It is something bad victimising Kenyans who are having a happy time. We are on top of it based on intelligence and collaboration with other agencies."
